Gardening: People’s Peace Zone
Amidst the Global Chaos
Written by

“New normal” are the words which majority of us hear nowadays. Practicing social distancing, wearing face masks and face shields are some of the new guidelines which we need to adhere. No matter how scary and terrible our world is right now, there are people who still think of ways to keep themselves occupied.
With the current ECQ and GCQ status that we face, some people are trying to fight boredom by finding a new hobby, or going back to their past hobbies. Painting, learning how to play an instrument, and even cooking: everyone is trying something out. Some even turn their hobbies into a business and earn some extra cash. At the end of the day, everyone just wants to distract themselves from the chaos and do something productive.
Building a garden is certainly not easy, let alone keeping plants alive, so why not make gardening a fun-filled family activity? This way, you can bond with your family, all while making our world cleaner and greener. Come up with plants which the household usually consumes, from vegetables like tomatoes, eggplants, and carrots, to fruits such as mangos, and avocados. While you’re at it, why not throw in some ornamental plants? Once you’re all set, it’s time to plant!
Instead of buying new pots for your plant babies, why not go for the environment-friendly route and use some of your PET bottles at home? You can paint them to have uniform colors, or use your imagination and go wild on the designs! The possibilities are endless as long as you put your heart and mind into it. Once you’re done painting and repotting, make the backyard more aesthetically pleasing by lining your recently-painted bottle turned pots. Not only is it Instagram-worthy, it also helps us achieve food security and stability.
Without a doubt, the pandemic truly changed the world. It will be difficult to go back to our previous lives again. But even if everything is uncertain at this point, we must not allow ourselves to not bounce back and stand up on our feet again. We should be more creative and resilient, especially during these trying times.

the second tranche to avoid corruption in LGU’s

Second tranche financial assistance go digital banking, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership of Globe Telecommunications are responsible for distributing the second wave of financial assistance from the national government. The palace wants to distribute the cash aid as fast as possible to aid the hungry Filipinos around the country. August 2, 2020 beneficiaries of Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Villasis, Pangasinan received notification that they have been registered through GCASH account.

Many are still confused and clueless about this text message that they received because some do not have access to the news. People on rely on hearsays and validated their queries through proof of some who actually got their money from payout centers of GCash. Globe Telecommunications support the Philippine Government Program such as transferring cash assistance to the poor families such as the 4P’s and beneficiaries of Social Amelioration Program (SAP). According to GCash Resource, GCash is a digital wallet that holds your money, plain and simple. Each amount in the wallet has an equivalent amount of peso in real life. You put your money into it, and the cash being digital makes it easy to do transactions with it, empowering the user to leverage it to do work without as much effort. This is one of the preventive measures that the government has to address because of previous corruption and killing, wherein from the previous tranche there are reported barangay officials that allegedly involvement in irregularities in the distribution of Social Amelioration Program (SAP), hence, soldiers were ambushed and killed during the delivery of the first tranche.

This news circulate within the streets of Villasis, people were astound with the line that seems like a line of a blockbuster movie or relief operation. Villasinians are patiently waiting for their turn to in-cash their cash aid from the government. Line of beneficiaries is everywhere and traffic enforcers are having a hard time maintaining social distancing of everyone. They are patiently waiting from GCash partner outlets such as Palawan Express, Puregold Supermarket and Villarica Pawnshop. Moreover, some Villasinians who know how to transfer the GCash fund to the bank go straight ahead to the nearest ATM machine to withdraw their money and some borrow Landbank card from their relatives. In line with this, some people take advantage of the situation by offering their Landbank account to avoid the hassle of falling in line in the designated counters of GCash; they just have to pay one hundred pesos per beneficiary. The beneficiaries do not mind how big they are going to pay to in-cash their money, their concerns is they must bring home something to feed their hungry family members.

The second tranche is more systematic but there are still flaws behind; no cell phone number in the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) form, no received text from the GCash because of PUK simcard, no cell phone. These are the issues of some Villasinian beneficiaries. The Municipality of Villasis opens its door for the queries of the beneficiaries who have problems about the second tranche. And they assure the beneficiaries that they will address their problems
